Pupils sing for their supper at healthy eating concert
thank the children for their donations and explained to them how their donations will help families in the local area. CHILDREN sang their hearts out at an event that promoted healthy eating.
St Mary’s Preschool in Church Street, Chesham, had its Soup and Song Concert on Thursday, October 23.
The event encouraged health eating and group participation, with a presentation of songs by the children in front of parents.
After the concert people enjoyed soup which the children helped make in the morning using vegetables that they brought in.
Chairperson of the committee that runs the preschool and parent to twins at the school Kate Miller said: ‘Soup and Song is a great example of how St Mary’s puts our children at the heart of everything we do. Our children selected the songs they wanted to sing, brought in their own vegetables and prepared them themselves. And the results were delicious.”
Manager of the preschool Jacky Murrell said: “We’re encouraging the children to become active learners through taking part in the concert, responding to simple instructions. During the singing they’re controlling their movements and of course recalling the words and counting up to five. Taking part in the concert, and the rehearsals, is developing their confidence and self esteem.”
