Baseball park team aim for expansion
A BASEBALL and softball agency has announced plans to expand its sports complex in South Bucks.
BaseballSoftballUK (BSUK), the development agency for the two sports, has said it plans to expand the Farnham Park Baseball and Softball Complex so the sports can develop further in the region.
The expansion will add a second internationalstandard baseball field to Farnham Park, to go with the existing baseball field and two softball fields to allow it to host baseball tournaments.
The new baseball field will have a diamond in the right field corner which can be used for youth baseball or softball tournaments.
BSUK also convert an building onsite baseball and clubhouse.
All plans are subject to approval from planning permission and funding.
BSUK’s joint CEO and head of development John Boyd said: “In just plans to existing into a softball eighteen months, Farnham Park has become baseball and softball’s flagship facility, a centrepiece of our work to build an infrastructure that will enable the growth of baseball and softball towards our vision of Played in Every Park.
“The announcement today means that we be able to better accommodate local new players and established regular players from across the country, alike.
“The extra field and clubhouse will be the final pieces to ensuring that we can offer an excellent experience to everyone using the complex.”
Farnham Park, the UK’s first dedicated baseball and softball facility, opened in July 2013.
In the past year Farnham Park has been used by an estimated 4,000 existing baseball and softball players, 400 new 13-15 year old players, 400 new adult players, 100 primary school children and 20 blind or visually impaired participants.
