Summit about Allsop no matter which discipline
Youngster takes cyclocross title on good day for club
LUCY Allsop showed her versatility as Summit Mountain Bike Club enjoyed another winning weekend.
The eight-year-old from Hyde Heath swapped disciplines to try cyclocross in the Central Region Cyclocross League at RAF Halton, and the change did her no harm as she beat friends Caitlin Loveless and Astrid Spragg, both of Hillingdon Slipstreamers, in a three-way charge to the line in the U10 event.
Summit’s adult riders also fared well with Zoe Allsop finishing third in the senior women’s race, Neil Dingle taking sixth in the Vet 40+ and Mark Deall coming 13th in the sport male category.
The rest of Summit’s competitors raced in the finale of the Banjo Cycles Rampage XC Series in Checkondon, Oxon, held on Saturday night.
In the juvenile boys category Ross Deall just missed out on repeating his win from last time out, coming second, while Tom Barrowcliffe rode to a fantastic fourth place.

Jarratt These two led the overall standings for the series and with Seth Kanaris (SummitMTB/ Hillingdon Slipstreamers) coming third overall the club achieved a clean sweep of the podium.
There was more success in the U9 category where Ben Donald won again and seven-year-old Orla Barrowcliffe was a close second, giving both series victories overall.
Alex Benger was sixth on the day, with Peter Donald coming home in 12th.
Lucy Allsop, meanwhile, just held on to her third place overall in the Series U11 Girls category, despite not racing the final event.
