Helping to make a difference
CHARITIES received a cash boost as part of celebrations to mark a building society’s anniversary.
Yorkshire Building Society in High Street, Chalfont St Peter, joined branches across the country to celebrate 150 years of business by calling on the public to nominate charities to receive £100.
The two charities nominated by villagers in Chalfont St Peter were the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the Maria Taylor Charity, which provides for the elderly at Christmas.
Manager of the branch Steve English said: “I’m delighted that two worthwhile causes nominated by our members in our local area, are part of the hundreds of local charities the society is supporting throughout the UK and I’m sure the money will be used to make a positive difference in our community.
“Our annual Make a Difference campaign is always very popular, but this year the society has been able to support more charities than ever before thanks to the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation’s generous donation to mark the Society’s 150th anniversary.”
