Ask us the £60bn transport question

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION -

Re: ‘Would a new ‘M40’ be worse than HS2?’ Buckinghamshire Advertiser, Thursday, October 30. THE boss of HS2 asks ‘would a new ‘M40’ be worse than HS2?’

David Higgins has not asked us a genuine either-or yes-or-no question, because the answer is that both HS2 and a new motorway would be worse than what we have now and far worse than any sensible alternatives.

There is no sensible answer to the question: ‘Do you want an unnecessary railway that would cause environmental devastation, or an unnecessary motorway that would cause environmental devastation?’

So instead of this fake question, please can we have the chance to give our answers to some real questions? Here’s one for starters. If we had £60billion to spend on fair and sustainable transport, what would we do with it?
