Harriers fly up to third with impressive outing
A one-two in U17 category the highlight of meeting
AMERSHAM Tristars had two first time winners at the Hillingdon Autumn Children’s Duathlon on Sunday.
In fact, five of the seven Tristars were competing in their first duathlon event, but it was John Nickless (right) and Katie Repper (left) who took home the honours.
In the U8 boys event (400m run/1.5km bike/200m run), Nickless entered the first transition in fourth place, caught up to second on the bike leg and then took his first title with a sprint to the finish line in the second run. Rocco Moar, also in his first duathlon, finished fifth.
In the girls 9-10 event (750m run/4.5km bike/1.5km run), Repper was in second after the cycle, but quickly took the lead on the final run to finish first. Scarlett Lewis, Isla Brown and Maddy Lewis were sixth, eighth and 10th respectively.
Finally, in the boys 11-12 event (750m run/4.5km bike/1.5km run), Harry Tack finished 11th. (17th), Sophie Chesterman (19th) and Katie Bench (21st), as were the U13 girls, through Emily Alderson (ninth), Olivia Cameron (17th), Alice Moffat (25th) and Jess Pullen (39th).
The match was held at the new venue of The College Equestrian Centre, in Keysoe, featuring one of the water hazards used for the horse jumps, while the next match is in Luton on December 6.
