Stopps get­ting started

DAVE Stopps recorded his first Su­per Sin­gles Darts League win of the sea­son in round five with a 6-4 vic­tory over Mark Luck­ett at the Wooburn Club.

Blaine Jelly was played twice on the same night, fall­ing to a 7-3 loss to John Beat­tie, in which both play­ers hit 180s, and Beat­tie a 123 out­shot, but hit back with 7-3 win over the luck­less Mike McLeod in his sec­ond game.

Last week’s com­pe­ti­tion win­ner, Steven Vaughan, was brought back to earth with a 7-3 re­verse to the im­pres­sive Pat O’Reilly, while Paul Wood­bridge’s ex­pe­ri­ence saw him over the line 6-4 in a close match with Si­mon White that ei­ther player could have won.

Steve McLeod hit a 117 out­shot to seal a 7-3 vic­tory over Trevor Br­ere­ton 7-3, while Rob Br­ere­ton con­tin­ued his 100 per cent record with a win by the same score over Mick Carl­ton, and Andy Long played out a 5-5 draw with Dan Franzen.
