Young A&C stars called up for schools squad

FOUR play­ers from Amer­sham & Chiltern’s U11s have been se­lected for the London & SE In­de­pen­dent Schools squad.

Us­ing the same for­mat as the Eng­land U16 and U18s, the In­de­pen­dent Schools se­lect four re­gional squads to com­pete against each other at Rugby School next March for the Green­wood Cup.

From this, an In­de­pen­dent Schools na­tional side, known as The Lambs, is se­lected to show off their skills on the in­ter­na­tional stage.

The four A&C young­sters, Oliver Webb, Tim Hayes, Se­bas­tian Phillips and Luca Fahy, were all se­lected to play in the London & SE trial, along with 60 other boys from schools across the re­gion, and all four were se­lected to rep­re­sent the re­gional squad.

Hav­ing maded ththe grade,d ththe bboys will now play in four warm up games, the first be­ing against a Welsh re­gional side from Rhondda Schools.

A&C MiMin­isi chair­manhi MMatthewtth Webb said: “It’s the first time in his­tory that four boys se­lected have come from one club.

“We are all very proud of them all and wish them ev­ery suc­cess for the fu­ture.”

The A&C first team were with­out a game last week­end due to the in­ter­na­tional break, but re­turn to Na­tional Three London & SE ac­tion on Satur­day with a game at East Grin­stead.

Chiltern will be look­ing to end a run of five suc­ces­sive de­feats, but will take heart from hav­ing re­stricted league lead­ers West­combe Park to a 33-20 win in their last out­ing two weeks ago.

Also re­turn­ing to ac­tion after a week­end off in South­ern Coun­ties North are Bea­cons­field and Drifters, who played each other be­fore the in­ter­na­tional break in a game which Bea­cons­field nar­rowly won 17-13.

They are back in ac­tion on Satur­day with another derby, away at High Wy­combe, while Drifters will host Bices­ter at Farn­ham Common.
