BONJOUR, bienvenue sur Le Rhone!

To the small region of Visan in the southern Rhone. We are tasting the Cellier de Monterail Cotes du Rhone Villages 2013.

Based in Chateauneuf du Papes, Cellier de Monterail specialise in up and coming regions in the Rhone, producing some exciting and great value wines.

The look is a deep, dark and intense blackcurrant colour, clinging to the glass. On the nose, an abundance of fruit – cherry, plum, blueberry and raspberry – layered by a herbal note, with a touch of spice.

In the mouth, there is a good feel and weight, a medium-bodied wine with big, complex fruit flavours that lead to a full, rich, long-lasting finish. Alcohol by volume is 13.5 percent and the price from Waitrose is £9.99 a bottle.
