Love your local, enjoy an awesome ale or some fab food? Tell us about it in our Pub of the Year contest
WE’VE got some great pubs around the South Bucks and Chilterns districts and regular readers will know that the Advertiser and Examiner actively supports these local hostelries through the Inn the News column in our Life and Leisure section
Well now we want YOU to vote for your favourite watering hole in a new competition designed to find the best pub in the area – and to turn a spotlight on all our lovely taverns.
Today, we launch our Pub of the Year 2015 contest, giving you the chance to nominate your local for the prestigious title as the Advertiser and Examiner’s best pub.
There could be many reasons why you think your pub deserves the accolade – and the handsome trophy that goes with it.
It could have a fantastic atmosphere because of the landlord and staff; perhaps the real ale it serves is the best kept around – or maybe it offers a terrific selection of beers and wines?
Some pubs go out of their way to welcome families – with play areas and equipment to keep the kids happy while mum and dad relax over a quiet drink. Or perhaps you visit a local regularly because of the outstanding food it serves?
Increasingly, pubs are places offering a wide range of entertainment – good bands, great comedy nights, big screen sports, quizzes, poker, etc and that’s what keeps you coming back.
Or does you local deserve to be our Pub of the Year 2015 because of all the things it does for the community – from organising charity events to helping to promote your town or village?
Whatever the reason, we want you to tell us why your pub is the best around.
Anyone can nominate a pub for the competition – and we hope landlords, landladies, managers and bar staff will all encourage customers to cast their vote for their pub by using the coupon that will be printed every week in the Advertiser and Examiner. It will always appear here, close to our Inn the News column.
The competition will be open from now until the end of April 2015 when we shall announce the winning pub and present the trophy to the winning landlord or landlady.
And we’ll feature an interview with the publican of one of the nominated pubs, along with photos, each week throughout the contest – so get voting.
Pub quizzes are always popular – does your local test your grey cells?
