The bear generosities
FREEMASONS are helping to cheer up children in hospital by giving them teddy bears.
Representatives of the 24 lodges and 10 chapters at the Masonic Centre in Windsor End, Beaconsfield, handed over soft toys to the paediatrics unit at Wexham Park Hospital.
Scheme co-ordinator Mel Shah, 57, of Hampden Hill, Beaconsfield, said: “Freemasonry is all about friendship, integrity and charity, so the Teddies for Loving Care scheme – TLC – is close to our hearts.”
The scheme was set up by Essex Freemasons but it now takes place throughout England and Wales. Two million teddies have been distributed in the past 12 years. Mr Shah handed over the latest batch which cost £200.
