Four hon­our player killed in war

FOUR mem­bers of a rugby club cy­cled to Bel­gium to re­mem­ber a player who died 70 years ago in the Sec­ond World War.

The mem­bers of Amer­sham and Chiltern Rugby Club cy­cled from the club to Arn­hem in Bel­gium.

They were com­mem­o­rat­ing the 70th an­niver­sary of the Sec­ond World War bat­tle where their club player Jack Gray­burn was killed and re­ceived a post­hu­mous Vic­to­ria Cross for his ac­tions.

Club spokesman Andy Gil­lan­ders said: “The four be­tween them raised over £7,000 for char­i­ties af­fil­i­ated to the Para­chute Reg­i­ment. A re­mark­able achieve­ment.”
