Heart of Bucks dishes out cash to some great projects

A LO­CAL char­ity has awarded grants to­talling more than £100,000 to com­mu­nity projects in the county in its lat­est round of judg­ing.

Heart of Bucks, which is part of the Bucks Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion re­ceived 27 ap­pli­ca­tions worth £137,000 dur­ing the quar­ter from Au­gust to Oc­to­ber.

Di­rec­tor Richard Dick­son said: “De­spite the won­der­ful gen­eros­ity of the donors and sup­port­ers around the county, we weren’t in a po­si­tion to say ‘Yes’ to ev­ery­one. But we’re pleased to have been able to support some fan­tas­tic projects.

Among the groups to ben­e­fit were Che­sham Cricket Club, which re­ceived a grant of £10,000 to be used to pro­vide all-weather prac­tice fa­cil­i­ties that can be used all year round, and Chal­font St Peter com­mu­nity li­brary, which was awarded £3,000 to help pay for the in­stal­la­tion of new car­pet­ing through­out the li­brary.

Another group to se­cure fund­ing of £20,000 was the Alzheimers So­ci­ety, which will use the money to ex­pand its ex­ist­ing be­friend­ing scheme across the whole of Buck­ing­hamshire.
