Heart of Bucks dishes out cash to some great projects
A LOCAL charity has awarded grants totalling more than £100,000 to community projects in the county in its latest round of judging.
Heart of Bucks, which is part of the Bucks Community Foundation received 27 applications worth £137,000 during the quarter from August to October.
Director Richard Dickson said: “Despite the wonderful generosity of the donors and supporters around the county, we weren’t in a position to say ‘Yes’ to everyone. But we’re pleased to have been able to support some fantastic projects.
Among the groups to benefit were Chesham Cricket Club, which received a grant of £10,000 to be used to provide all-weather practice facilities that can be used all year round, and Chalfont St Peter community library, which was awarded £3,000 to help pay for the installation of new carpeting throughout the library.
Another group to secure funding of £20,000 was the Alzheimers Society, which will use the money to expand its existing befriending scheme across the whole of Buckinghamshire.
