Teams dumped out of cup competitions
THERE was no seventh heaven for Old Belmont and Eldorado as they both suffered heavy cup exits on Sunday.
A Shazi Mirza strike was scant consolation as Belmont were dumped out of the Berks and Bucks Junior Cup 7-1 by Las Paramides, while Eldorado did manage three goals via Ady Payne, Darryl Cooper and Kieran Webb, but still went out of the Chesham Charity Cup 7-3 to Arthur’s.
Pioneer provided the only bright spot for the Chesham Sunday League as they narrowly beat Hazlemere Sports, also in the Charity Cup.
League action in the top flight was wiped out by the weather, but in Division One, leaders Maclay FC consolidated their position with a 4-1 home success over Pioneer Reserves, in which Dean Gavin scored twice, and Bevan Gosling and Ben O’Connor once each.
Tring Anchor kept up their promotion challenge by edging out Chesham Athletic 3-2, with Lawrence Stack, Stuart Howe and Dan Steadman on target for Tring, while Tim Farrell and Nick Gallagher replied for Chesham.
Magpies 91 Reserves and SFG Stone drew 3-3, with Dan Gilbert, Chris Reddington and Nathan Simpson on the mark for Mags, but their goals were cancelled out by Ryan Darling, Ben Farrow and Danny Taylor.
