THE re­cent mini re­vival at Holmer Green came to end on Tues­day with a 4-2 home de­feat to Spar­tan South Mid­lands Premier lead­ers Sun Sports.

Hav­ing lost nine straight league games be­tween Septem­ber and Novem­ber, the Greens fi­nally turned the cor­ner with two suc­ces­sive wins.

Last week’s vic­tory at Cock­fos­ters was fol­lowed by more suc­cess on Satur­day, with goals from Tom Fi­field and Cur­tis Stone earn­ing a 2-0 vic­tory at Col­ney Heath.

How­ever, de­spite tak­ing an early lead through Dean Allen on Tues­day, Holmer had con­ceded three times by the time Allen bagged his sec­ond from the penalty spot with 20 min­utes left, and a fourth goal was nestling in the back of their net soon after.

How­ever, with drop zone ri­vals Hilling­don Bor­ough also los­ing, Chris Allen’s men are at least out of the rel­e­ga­tion zone go­ing into Satur­day’s home game against Hadley.

In Di­vi­sion One, ahead of this week’s derby with Che­sham United Re­serves, Amer­sham Town were edged out 3-2 at Lang­ford last Satur­day, de­spite goals from Jamie Fran­cis and Craig French. Che­sham also suf­fered a nar­row de­feat, 2-1 at home to Edg­ware Town, Reece Cameron scor­ing their goal.

In the Hel­lenic League, Penn and Tylers Green lost 4-3 at home to Did­cot Town, where a D Jor­dan brace and an A Bradley strike were not enough.
