Why not just turn off lights at Tesco?
CONGRATULATIONS to Gerrards Cross Parish Council, who allocated £24,500 to improve a footpath on East Common (Advertiser, November 27).
Such a pity they cannot help to find funds to rectify the chaos caused on Packhorse Road by the traffic light system outside Tesco.
After countless consultations and public meetings, it was agreed that the system is unsafe and the cause of long delays to traffic and confusing to pedestrians. However, it was decided that there were no funds available to rectify the system and an opportunity that a contribution would be made by Tesco, was lost.
Does it need much money to switch off the lights and just leave the pedestrian crossing by Boots, in Packhorse Road, to allow traffic to flow and assist crossing, until funds are available to install either a mini-roundabout or simple ‘Give Way’ signs to be erected at the junction of Station Approach and Tesco car park.
