HELLO I aroha waina!

This week we head to the award-winning Woolshed vineyard, in the upper Wairau Valley, in Marlborough, New Zealand.

We are tasting the Mud House Sauvignon Blanc 2014. Made from 100 per cent sauvignon blanc, the look is clean and clear, pale straw in colour, with a water-like coloured core.

On the nose, it produces fresh, mouth watering aromas of elderflower, which change to a sweetness of melon and citrus from grapefruit.

In the mouth, concentrated flavours of citrus are followed by notes of guava fruit, leading to a juicy acidity, giving lovely freshness and a good long length. A perfect aperitif or would partner well with fish, especially seared scallops or hearty salads.

Alcohol by volume is 13 per cent and the price is £10.49. Widely available.

Until next time – Whakahri I konei te ki te wa e mea hakari ana!
