With the Chilterns Tourism Network
THERE’S just such a wonderful array of traditional Chilterns Christmas events to look forward to, here are more for you to try.
Saturday, December 20 from 10am to 1pm there is a Christmas Ride Special from Holmer Green Common with a special Christmas treat courtesy of Cycle Chilterns.
Join in with the Cycle Chilterns ladies’ rides which are fun, recreational group bike rides led by an experienced female cyclist. They will explore the country lanes and quieter roads of the Chilterns.

If you want to escape the festive hype, burn off those mince pies or just get out of the house for a few hours, then a walk on a sunny winter’s day could be just the ticket. There are several National Trust gardens open, including Hughenden Manor, Cliveden and the beautiful Stowe.
Or really splash out and take a Christmas morning swim in the heated outdoor pool at Chesham Moor Gym and Swim. This unusual activity has become a Christmas tradition in itself.
Head to the pool for one of the two timed swimming sessions – 7am-9am or 9am-11am. Take a dip in the pool then enjoy a bacon buttie and a hot cup of tea or coffee, all included in the ticket price, and served by Santa hat-wearing staff. No need to worry about the cold – the pool will be heated to a toasty 82/83F.
Tickets cost £8 for adults, £5 for juniors. Please book in advance at the pool or by calling 01494 776975.
At the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden, there’s a baking mash-up on Friday, January 2 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm for children aged five or more.
There will be a whipple scrumptious session with their Food Writer in Residence, Victoria Glass, creator of sneezecake, chownies and freckles cakes. Let your imagination run wild and come up with your own cake recipe. You’ll leave with your stomach and imagination satisfied. £3 per participant. For more, visit www.roalddahl.com.
Or support Wycombe Museum which is free to explore local Chilterns history - the family history section and information about famous people who lived and worked in the area is particularly good.
Please share your top picks for local places to eat in and experiences to enjoy all year round.
