Hotel extension plans
PEOPLE are being asked to comment on plans to extend a training centre and hotel.
The application seeks permission to build a two-storey extension to a rear bedroom wing to provide 28 more bedrooms and 30 additional parking spaces at De Vere Venues, in Denham Grove, Tilehouse Lane, Denham.
The application, submitted by Browns Associates in February, was rejected in May.
The development was refused due to it being in the Green Belt [Colne Valley Park], and the harm it would do. It was also argued it would set a precedent for building on Green Belt land.
Following the decision to refuse permission the application went to appeal.
The application was not the first to be put in for the site, with plans dating back to 1955, according to the case report.
The land was taken over and became an old people’s home, then a BP training centre, before in 2009 it was given permission to also use it as a hotel.
Comments have to be submitted to the planning inspectorate by December 20. Write to Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.
