Fund­ing award helps boost support for long-term car­ers

EX­TRA SUPPORT: Fred Dur­rans, com­mer­cial man­ager; Gi­u­lia John­son, chief ex­ec­u­tive; He­len Wain, com­mu­nity ser­vices Man­ager and Linda Petrons, In­come Gen­er­a­tion Man­ager from Age UK AGE UK Buck­ing­hamshire has been awarded £87,000 from the Cab­i­net’s Of­fice’s Car­ers So­cial Ac­tion Support Fund, a share of £700,000 fund­ing for vol­un­teers to support un­paid fam­ily car­ers across the county.

The fund­ing will be used to im­ple­ment a new pro­gramme to support car­ers of peo­ple with de­men­tia in Buck­ing­hamshire and recog­nises the im­pact trained vol­un­teers can make in sup­port­ing th­ese long-term car­ers.

Age UK Buck­ing­hamshire chief ex­ec­u­tive, Gi­u­lia John­son said: “We are de­lighted that our ap­pli­ca­tion for this fund­ing has been suc­cess­ful and that we can now start this much-needed ser­vice which com­ple­ments our Mem­ory Ad­vice Ser­vice.
