It’s a crucial game because they are flying right now. They’ve got four wins from four and Phil Brown got manager of the month. Fair play to Wimbledon – they came here with a game plan and it worked.

“We really wanted to get in that third round as it’s nice watching the TV on Monday hoping for a big draw.

“But we have to take positives out of the game.”

Meanwhile, Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth remained upbeat despite watching the Chairboys crash out of the cup to Neal Ardley’s side.

Sean Rigg grabbed the only goal of the game early in the second half, after excellent buildup play between George Francomb and Adebayo Akinfenwa.

“Of course I want to be in the third round but we have got a big league campaign and a big job to get this club back on its feet,” Ainsworth said. “We never got the flow going that we have had in recent weeks and we didn’t get that final ball right.

“The positives I can take are no injuries and no suspensions with such a small squad.

“Getting back on track in the league is just as big as Sunday was.”
