Free con­cert on Nordic note

JOIN the BBC Con­cert Orches­tra for a free cel­e­bra­tory con­cert as part of BBC Ra­dio 3’s Nordic Sea­son. Mu­sic from Fin­land, Den­mark and Swe­den is com­ple­mented by the orches­tra’s for­mer Com­poser in As­so­ci­a­tion Anne Dud­ley’s North­ern Lights.

The pro­gramme in­cludes the Pre­lude to Carl Nielsen’s opera Saul and David, Franz Ber­wald’s lyri­cally pas­toral Third Sym­phony, Vagn Holm­boe’s dra­matic Sym­phony No.13, writ­ten when the com­poser was in his eight­ies, and Si­belius’ dark and mys­te­ri­ous Ser­e­nade No.2, with Charles soloist.

Owen Ar­well Hughes, a keen ad­vo­cate of Holm­boe’s mu­sic, con­ducts.

Ad­mis­sion is on a first-come, first-served ba­sis.
