Deluxe Laboratories in North Oribtal Road, Denham, closed in March because of changes in the film industry, with an increasing number of productions being shot digitally.
Developers have applied to South Bucks District Council to turn the site into 70 new homes and 105 flats, with the original Deluxe building being converted into 49 flats.
Denham Parish Council has approved the idea, subject to a Section 106 agreement being reached to improve the bus service in that part of Denham.
Sylvia Jefferys of Denham Parish Council said: “We haven’t had any objections from the public about it, and there are no concerns about the development. The fact that they are maintaining and improving the main building is something that we’re pleased about as well.”
The site will also retain a cinema to maintain its heritage, which will be able to be used by the whole community.
A decision on the development is set to be made by South Bucks District Council early next year.
