Familiar site brewing up a new fascia

A COFFEE chain is creating up to 10 jobs with the opening of a new branch.

Costa has converted the former pub The Crown in Chalfont St Giles into it latest franchise, which is being officially launched tomorrow (Friday).

A Costa spokesman

said: “As with all our new store openings, we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events, providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”

The building’s prime location in the high street makes it a familiar sight for villagers and visitors alike, particularly as it featured in the 1971 film Dads’ Army, an episode of Hammer House of Horror in 1980, and Big Job, a 1965 film starring Sid James which starts with a bank robbery in the mocked-up pub. The Crown closed in October last year.
