Cost-cut­ting that causes heartache

RE: Anger at re­moval of grave­side or­na­ments (Ad­ver­tiser, De­cem­ber 11) I AM writ­ing in re­sponse to your [front page] story re­gard­ing the re­moval of per­sonal items from a grave at the Gar­den of Rest.

I per­son­ally feel it is out­ra­geous not only have Chal­font St Peter Parish Coun­cil taken away our right to plant flow­ers, they are now re­mov­ing per­sonal items which were put there by the chil­dren for the daddy.

If any­one has vis­ited the Gar­den of Rest re­cently, you will see that the lawn laid has started to turn yel­low; it is patchy in places and looks bare. How can any­one say it looks bet­ter than it did in the sum­mer when all the flow­ers were on the graves.

When you look around you will see that the ‘plant­ing area’ al­lo­cated to K plot is ac­tu­ally less than that given to the cre­ma­tion area and less than the war graves in France, which
