Long and Stopps take league pair’s title
DEADLY duo Andy Long and Dave Stopps were this week crowned Super Singles Darts League pairs champions.
Players were paired up depending on there singles league position for the competition, with two groups of three pairs facing off and the top two pairs going through to a final.
Group One saw the father and son pairing of Trevor and Rob Brereton top the group with three wins and a draw, with Trevor hitting two 180s, while Long and Stopps also topped Group Two with three wins and a draw, with a 180 each from Stopps and Pat O’Reilly, and two from Dan Franzen.
The final was over the best of seven legs, with Stopps and Long taking a 4-1 lead, meaning the last two legs were not necessary.
Meanwhile, something had to give when two unbeaten teams
Andy Long and Dave Stopps dominate, winning the first three matches to lead 6-3, but Wooburn were not finished and produced a run of five singles wins to take the match 8-6. There were 180s from Totteridge’s Paul Tubb and Wooburn’s Jason Hine.
Holmer Green Legion C have found their form at last with another impressive win, beating Winchmore Hill CC 10-4, with Dave King hitting a 117 outshot, while Holmer’s A side stayed in contention at the top with a 9-5 win over Hazlemere CC, for whom Mark Luckett hit a 180.
In Division Two, there were big wins for two Cressex sides, the E team winning 10-4 against Cressex A and the C team beating the Judo Club by the same score.
Marlow Legion were pushed hard for their 8-6 win at Marsh Legion, who saw Stuart Lane hit his second 180 for the season, while Bourne End SC were impressive in their 8-6 win over Holmer Green Legion B.
