Long and Stopps take league pair’s ti­tle

DEADLY duo Andy Long and Dave Stopps were this week crowned Su­per Sin­gles Darts League pairs cham­pi­ons.

Play­ers were paired up de­pend­ing on there sin­gles league po­si­tion for the com­pe­ti­tion, with two groups of three pairs fac­ing off and the top two pairs go­ing through to a fi­nal.

Group One saw the fa­ther and son pair­ing of Trevor and Rob Br­ere­ton top the group with three wins and a draw, with Trevor hit­ting two 180s, while Long and Stopps also topped Group Two with three wins and a draw, with a 180 each from Stopps and Pat O’Reilly, and two from Dan Franzen.

The fi­nal was over the best of seven legs, with Stopps and Long tak­ing a 4-1 lead, mean­ing the last two legs were not nec­es­sary.

Mean­while, some­thing had to give when two un­beaten teams

Andy Long and Dave Stopps dom­i­nate, win­ning the first three matches to lead 6-3, but Wooburn were not fin­ished and pro­duced a run of five sin­gles wins to take the match 8-6. There were 180s from Tot­teridge’s Paul Tubb and Wooburn’s Ja­son Hine.

Holmer Green Le­gion C have found their form at last with another im­pres­sive win, beat­ing Winch­more Hill CC 10-4, with Dave King hit­ting a 117 out­shot, while Holmer’s A side stayed in con­tention at the top with a 9-5 win over Ha­zle­mere CC, for whom Mark Luck­ett hit a 180.

In Di­vi­sion Two, there were big wins for two Cres­sex sides, the E team win­ning 10-4 against Cres­sex A and the C team beat­ing the Judo Club by the same score.

Mar­low Le­gion were pushed hard for their 8-6 win at Marsh Le­gion, who saw Stu­art Lane hit his sec­ond 180 for the sea­son, while Bourne End SC were im­pres­sive in their 8-6 win over Holmer Green Le­gion B.
