Thanks to the little parcel helpers

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION -

THE Amersham and Chesham Lions Club would like to thank the people of Amersham and Chesham for their generous support of the annual Christmas Parcels scheme.

Collections of goods were made two weeks ago at Tesco, in Amersham, and Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, in Chesham.

A number of organisations were involved, including the Amersham and Chesham Rotary clubs, Round Table and Chiltern Foodbank, as well as pupils from Chesham Grammar School, Dr Challoner’s Grammar Schools and Chiltern Hills Academy.

We made up 535 individual food parcels and 28 family boxes.

Over the weekend and the following few days these went out to lonely and needy people in the area.

We were also able to give 18 pot plants and four boxes of chocolates to those who are lonely but not needy.

We are also grateful for the many cash donations received from individuals and organisations which went towards buying in certain goods to make up the parcels.

We often think that we live in an affluent area, but those who help with the scheme can testify to the fact that there are many pockets of deprivation around us.
