A CHARITY’S annual Christmas scheme provided food to hundreds of people in need.

Earlier this month, collections of goods were made at Tesco, in Amersham, and Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, in Chesham, for the Amersham and Chesham Lions Club’s annual Christmas Parcel Scheme.

The group was able to make up 535 individual food parcels and 28 family boxes from the donations which were sent out to lonely and needy people in Chesham and Amersham.

It was also able to give pot plants and boxes of chocolates to those who are lonely but not needy.

Public relations officer Ernest Newhouse said: “Thanks to the people of Amersham and Chesham for their generous support of the annual Christmas Parcels scheme.

“We’re also grateful for the many cash donations received from individuals and organisations.”
