Denham A move clear
DENHAM Village A have opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Chalfonts & District Table Tennis League Division One going into the Christmas break,
Danny Lewis and Mitchell Jones won in straight sets as Denham dismissed their Village B siblings 9-1 to put daylight between themselves and Chiltern in second spot, despite the latter’s 10-0 demolition of a two-man Rickmansworth B team, courtesy of Mike Atkinson, Mark Croucher and Chris Haines.
Village C leap into third place by sweeping aside Chalfont A 8-2, thanks to maximum points from James Whitfield & long-time campaigner Roland Stanbridge.
All the matches in Division Two finished 8-2, with pace-setters Denham Village D overcoming Village F to build a 15-point lead over Hillingdon, whose match was postponed.
Village D’s star junior player Gaurav Aravind chalked up yet another maximum and now tops the averages with 12 wins in 12 matches.
Rickmansworth C had a handsome win against Village J, thanks to a 100 per cent display from their junior Andrew Grassick, who finally put pay to Lee Clark’s unbeaten record.
Meanwhile, Bob Baines exceeded all expectations by emerging unscathed in steering his Village E team to victory over Ickenham URC and keeping them firmly in third spot.
