Begin the year with a green gesture

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION -

GET 2015 off to a green start and recycle your real Christmas tree and prevent it going to landfill.

If your tree has roots it can be re-planted in a pot or in the garden to be re-used next year. Alternatively, you can recycle your Christmas tree at a number of sites across the district again this year.

If you have a green garden waste collection bin you can put your real tree directly into it – you may need to cut it down into smaller pieces to ensure that the lid can still close firmly. Do not forget that there will not be any garden waste collections until January 5, 2015.

Alternatively, take your tree along to one of the household waste recycling sites which can be found in Langley, Burnham and Beaconsfield. To find your nearest centre, visit

Used Christmas trees can also be taken to the Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens, Church Lane, Stoke Poges, between January 2 and 16 from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Every tree collected will be turned into compost and prevents more waste going to landfill.
