Doc­tors help chil­dren get on the Smile Train

A COU­PLE spent part of the fes­tive sea­son in In­dia see­ing first-hand the work car­ried out with money they have helped to raise.

Dr Sameer Pa­tel and Dr Shivani Pa­tel of Mar­sham Way, Ger­rards Cross set up the Elleven den­tal prac­tice, in London, and have helped raise money for the Smile Train, a char­ity which helps to ben­e­fit chil­dren in de­vel­op­ing coun­tries who suf­fer from cleft lip and palate.

The cou­ple last year man­aged to raise £5,000 for the char­ity by tak­ing part in the Colour Run and, on Box­ing Day, trav­elled to Delhi to visit the Sant Par­manand Hos­pi­tal, where they met with Dr Puneet Ba­tra, to see how their money has been spent.

The cou­ple said that the trip was a ‘fab­u­lous, heart warm­ing ex­pe­ri­ence’.
