Food firms hop­ing for taste of suc­cess

BUSI­NESSES from across the county have en­tered the Buck­ing­hamshire Food and Drink Awards.

The awards aims to high­light the very best of the county’s food and drink sec­tor. There have been 113 nom­i­na­tions for the awards across 14 cat­e­gories.

The nom­i­nated venues and busi­nesses have been sent free mar­ket­ing tool­kits to help them gar­ner the cru­cial votes they will need for vic­tory.

The Mayo Brothers butch­ers, in Che­sham Bois, have been nom­i­nated, as well as The Jolly Crick­eters pub, in Seer Green; The Grey­hound Ene­toca, in Beaons­field; J and L Mash butch­ers, in Seer Green; The Crazy Bear pub, in Bea­cons­field; Bea­cons­field Wine Cel­lars; and Jor­dans Vil­lage Store.

Rob Sawyer, who owns

NOM­I­NATED: Rob and Jenni Sawyer, own­ers of Mayo Brothers Mayo Brothers butch­ers, in Che­sham Bois, with wife Jenni, said: “We’re not aware of who nom­i­nated us, it came out of the blue and was a bril­liant sur­prise. We have al­ready printed off hun­dreds of leaflets for our cus­tomers.”

The cou­ple have been run­ning the shop for 25 years, the past six as own­ers after they bought the business.

Mr Sawyer added: “We don’t com­pro­mise on ser­vice or qual­ity.”
