Town’s first community park may open soon
BEACONSFIELD’S first community park could soon be open.
Beaconsfield Town Council, along with the Friends of Holtspur Park, are aiming to rejuvenate the recreation ground, in Holtspur Way.
Work has already begun, with fundraising events held last year and the council putting out tenders for a new playground and teenage fitness areas.
A decision is expected this week, with winning bidders announced later this month. It is hoped the work will be carried out in March.
Open spaces committee chairman Philip Bastiman said: “Our long-term goal is to create Beaconsfield’s first community park.”
An outdoor gym was officially opened last month and is already in use. The project began after neighbours said the recreation ground needed sprucing up. They listed a gym, play area and landscaping as part of the project and set up the Friends of Holtspur Park.
The Friends of Holtspur Park’s next fundraising event is a curry and bingo night on Saturday, January 24.
