Flytippers dump urinals at beauty spot

Dog walker ‘mad and dismayed’ over latest wave of rubbish to be left at woods entrance

A DOG walker has hit out at fly tippers who have dumped urinals among other rubbish at the entrance to woods.

Maxine Evans, 61, of Bottrells Lane, walks daily at Hodgemoor Woods, in Chalfont St Giles, and is exasperated by the rubbish strewn across the area.

Mrs Evans, who regularly cleans up the mess dumped at the woods’ car park with the help of an elderly man from the area, was shocked to see the latest load of a sink, urinals, wall tiles and a ‘small hill’ of black sacks.

She said: “It makes me mad and dismayed because there are ways of getting rid of the stuff like taking it to the dumps in Amersham or Beaconsfield. It is laziness thinking somebody else will sort it out.

“This is a pretty area and dumping rubbish here is senseless and thoughtless. People target it because it’s quiet.”

The woods are

a popular venue for families during the weekends and cub groups.

Mrs Evans has concerns children may hurt themselves on the objects, which she says have ranged from fridges to ovens in the past few weeks. There are also concerns the rubbish will have a negative affect on the land’s wildlife.

She added: “On occasion someone obviously paid this has for someone else to take it away, but it has been dumped instead. It might jog somebody’s memory if they saw a picture and thought ‘hang on one minute, we paid for that to be taken’.

“We get a lot of food bags where people come from the services in Beaconsfield.

“They go up there to eat and drink and then bung all the rubbish out the window.”

Although Mrs Evans often cleans up litter from the site, she ‘could not try to move this kind of stuff ’ because of its weight and the fact there was so much of it.

She informed County Council, will look into incident.
