Have your say
Give feedback on plan for Chiltern
PEOPLE are being given the opportunity to have their say on future development in Chiltern by taking part in a consultation.
Chiltern District Council is consulting at the outset of preparing a new Local Plan, which will establish and plan for the development needs of the area until 2036.
Work on the Local Plan is being accelerated following the council’s decision on Tuesday, January 6 to withdraw its Delivery Development Plan Document.
The new plan will eventually replace the adopted Core Strategy and other relevant parts of the adopted development plan.
The eight-week consultation started on Thursday last week and ends at 5pm on Friday, March 6.
Views are being sought from residents, groups, organisations, developers, landowners and businesses in Chiltern.
At this stage, the consultation is not specific but open to identifying issues of concern which the plan should address, new principles to guide development and any specific points considered relevant.
Feedback from the consultation will help the council shape its planning objectives and a plan strategy, help inform the level of development required, where that should be and planning policies to be used to determine planning applications.
The council’s cabinet member for sustainable development Councillor Graham Harris said: “We need to accurately assess the anticipated needs for both housing and businesses in the period to 2036. I cannot emphasise enough how important this Local Plan will be for the future identity of Chiltern, and it really is incumbent on residents, businesses and local organisations to get involved and give us their views. We’ve made the consultation period longer than usual in order to give people as much time as possible to respond. If you care about what happens to Chiltern in the future, please participate.”
