READERS DIGEST: Members of a book club who met in their playground of their children’s school celebrated the group’s 15th anniversary at The Ivy House A BOOK club of mothers who met in their children’s playground recently celebrated its 15th anniversary.

The mothers who met at Robertswood School in Chalfont St Peter gathered for the party at The Ivy House in Chalfont St Giles on Tuesday, January 6.

After 15 years and 150 books, the friends still meet and share reads although the children have all gone away to study.

Member Beth Neill said: “Unlike some more formal groups, we meet in our homes and generate the selections ourselves – each person brings three books to the meeting, describes them and then we vote on which to read and discuss in about a month’s time.

“I doubt when it started we really thought about how long it would last.

“We did lose a few people but gained others, most of whom have been in the group for several years and have formed firm friendships through it.”
