Feel the (lack of) power

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

THE lights went out on any hopes of completing a full programme of fixtures in the Wycombe & Amersham Darts Club League this week.

There were three games that could not be completed due to a power cut in the area, and Holmer Green Legion C will probably have felt most aggrieved.

Having produce the best performance of their season to lead a strong Totteridge SC side 9-3, the loss of power brought the game to an early halt.

However, there was a happy ending as the league’s committee decided to award each team one further point each, to give Holmer a 10-4 win.

There were 180s from Ken Shirley and Liam Burgess and a 111 outshot from Jeff Greenacombe, plus a 100 finish from Dave ‘Curly’ King, all from the Legion side.

Elsewhere, there was a maximum 180 from Jim Cowley as Wooburn Club took over at the top of the Division One table with an 11-3 win at the RAFA Club, while at the other end Winchmore Hill CC bagged a first win of the season with a 9-5 triumph over Hazlemere CC.

The top two teams in Division Two, Cressex CC C and Marlow Legion, clashed and it was Cressex who remained top after winning 9-5 and now lead the table by seven points.

Cressex E were not at their best but still came away with an 8-6 win at the Judo Club to go second, while Cressex A got back to winning ways with a hard fought win by the same score at Holmer Green Legion B, despite the power cut also ending that game early.

Finally, Bourne End CC and Marsh Legion looked likely to be a close encounter, and so it proved, with the Legion taking the honours 9-5 to go up to fifth in the table.
