Thompson’s first for Last keeps cup run alive
CHESHAM SUN LGE >>
LEWIS Thompson scored his first ever goal for Last Post as they squeezed past Chesham Sunday League rivals Magpies Reserves in the Allan Moore Cup.
Premier Division side Post were made to work hard against their Division One hosts, but three in the last 20 minutes secured a 3-0 victory and a safe passage for the Premier Division side.
The other two came from Craig Bousfield, his second a fine solo effort, and took the hot-shot’s tally for the season to 17.
There were two other Premier versus Division One clashes in the same competition, but no upsets to be seen as Eldorado and Dinamo Chequers put out Old Belmont and Maclay FC.
A Kieran Webb hat-trick, plus further goals from Paul Vincent, Matt Bunting, Paul Craft, Steve Stroud, Tim Webb and Stuart Hawkes, saw Eldorado hammer Belmont, for who Dale Lee netted a consolation, 9-1, while goals from Alistair Deacon and Dan Fletcher helped Dinamo just about see off Maclay, who replied through Beaven Gosling, 2-1.
In league action, Chalfont Saints strengthened their challenge for the Premier title with a 10-0 thrashing of Misty Moon, thanks to hattricks from Tom Kaill and Charlie Kuehn, plus a Mitchell McNulty double and further goals from Alfie Cumber and Connor Cumber.
Title rivals Magpies 91 came out on top in their six-pointer at home to current champions Pioneer, goals from George Larkin and Chris Pearcy earning Magpies a 2-1 win, while Reyna WheelerSmith hit Pioneer’s reply.
In Division One, Pioneer Reserves and Tring Anchor missed the opportunity to close on leaders Maclay FC, losing 4-3 to Chesham Athletic and 3-2 to Queen’s Head respectively.
Two goals from Lawrence Chamberlain and one from Ben Ford were not enough for Pioneer, as a Matt Griggs brace, plus Adam Jamieson and Jack Grant strikes, edged it for Chesham, while Dan Steadman’s double was scant consolation for Tring as Louie Shanahan, Frank Clark and Taylor Baines secured the points for Queen’s.
SFG Stone also won convincingly 5-2 against strugglers Chiltern Chargers, with Martin White and Mark Singleton both bagging braces and Duane Ryan also on the score sheet, although Oscar Sutchodolski added some respectability to the scoreline with two replies for Chargers. SUNDAY, JANUARY 16
