GER­RARDS CROSS: Peo­ple are be­ing in­vited along to en­joy a Burns Night sup­per.

The event takes place at the Memo­rial Cen­tre in East Common to­mor­row.

The fun starts at 7pm with a piper play­ing, with a cer­e­mony and hag­gis at 7.45pm, and then con­tin­u­ing with danc­ing and ceilidh with a live band at 9pm.

PROUD: Chil­dren and staff at Chal­font St Peter CoE Academy cel­e­brate their school’s award for its ex­cel­lence in arts CHIL­DREN and staff cel­e­brated their school’s award for its ex­cel­lence in arts.

Chal­font St Peter CoE Academy won the Arts­mark Gold Award for the third time. The award is achieved by schools demon­strat­ing ex­cel­lence in the arts – mu­sic, drama, art and dance.

Brenda Meek who pre­pared the school’s ap­pli­ca­tion said: “It was a lengthy and rig­or­ous process to com­plete but well worth it to achieve this won­der­ful award. Events such as our Christ­mas pro­duc­tion, par­tic­i­pa­tion in con­certs at the Al­bert Hall, our sum­mer arts evening and our an­nual Arts Week all helped to pro­vide clear ev­i­dence to the as­ses­sors.

“We are very proud of our chil­dren, who en­gage en­thu­si­as­ti­cally in the arts and per­form con­fi­dently in pub­lic.

“They all have a ded­i­cated half day of arts teach­ing each week with spe­cial­ist teach­ers.”
