Break­fast and Bi­ble talk meet­ing

A NEW se­ries of morn­ing talks has started at the Men’s Break­fast meet­ings.

Dr Con­rad Gempf of the London The­o­log­i­cal Col­lege, spoke at the United Re­formed Church, in Ayles­bury End, Bea­cons­field, on Satur­day, Jan­uary 10.

He is the au­thor of sev­eral popular works on the Bi­ble.

John Hoar, who at­tended, said: “Hu­manly speak­ing, he said, Je­sus may ap­pear at first sight to have been a fail­ure.

“He won few peo­ple to his cause dur­ing his lifetime. He rarely made pro­nounce­ments, un­like Moses and the prophets.

“Those who asked him ques­tions were of­ten met not with easy an­swers but with ques­tions or sto­ries

Rev NIgel Dou­glas serves up break­fast at the meet­ing chal­leng­ing as­sump­tions.

“His great­ness as a teacher lay in his abil­ity to recog­nise each per­son’s needs and to lead them to re­al­ize where they needed to change.”
