Girls win new contest

A GROUP of gym­nasts from St Mary’s School, in Ger­rards Cross, were crowned win­ners of the in­au­gu­ral GISGA (Girls In­de­pen­dent Schools Gym­nas­tics As­so­ci­a­tion) Four Piece New Schools Com­pe­ti­tion last Sun­day.

Hab­er­dash­ers’ School, in El­stree, hosted the tour­na­ment, which was at­tended by schools from as far and wide as Cam­bridge, Mon­mouth, Le­ices­ter, Shrews­bury, Rut­land, New­port and Shrop­shire, as well as South Bucks.

All com­peti­tors per­formed a set and vol­un­tary vault, as well as a set and vol­un­tary rou­tine, after which the top three in­di­vid­u­als were awarded medals.

As well as be­ing crowned over­all win­ners, St Mary’s pupil Char­lotte Sykes won sil­ver in the in­di­vid­ual cat­e­gories.
