Crowhurst’s cool wins

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

THERE was double cause for celebration for Steve Crowhurst at Little Hay Golf Club this week.

On Sunday, he battled best the snowy and icy conditions to win the Founders Day Stableford competition with 42 points, comfortably ahead of Karl Burn in second, with 37 points, and Brian Ridgeway in third, with 36 points.

This followed a victory for him and his wife, Hee-Young, who the previous weekend won the sixth round of the Winter League with 46 points.

Martin Evans and Nigel Hopkinson were second with 45 points, but the Crowhursts lead the competition after round six, with Evans and Hopkinson in second place.

Meanwhile, last Monday, the seniors joined up with the ladies to play a mixed pairs greensomes, and on a very blustery day the winning pair was Elaine Meagher and John Ridgewell with 33 points.

It was a close fought battle though, as they only saw off Elaine’s sister, Chris Marsden, who was partnered by John Murphy, on count back. Vic Allen won the competition for seniors without a lady partner, with Trevor F Sargeant second on 33 points.

Little Hay is a friendly and active club which welcomes new members, and while the new membership year starts in April, anyone joining now will get the months up to April for free.
