Care home feasts on Burns night

Chalfont Lodge, in Chalfont St Peter, held a feast to commemorate the life of Robert Burns on Monday.
Staff at the home, in Denham Lane, read out Burns’ poems while bagpipe music played in the background.
Activities co-ordinator Hayley Clark said: “We snacked on shortbread and fudge and washed it down with some Scotch whisky and ginger ale while having a talk on who Robbie Burns was.
“Our kitchen delighted us further by offering haggis, salmon cooked in whisky and honey and cranachan (Scottish pudding) for desert.
“Having eaten and drank till they could no more, the resident’s settled down to watch the Ealing Broadway classic film Whisky Galore.”
