Our first meeting of the WI’s Centenary Year started with welcoming two new members, and we hope there will be many more in this exciting year for WI.
Lots of events are planned, nationally and more locally, including a celebration lunch, the greeting of the centenary baton, rather like a time capsule, which is touring the whole country and reaches Bucks in April with the ringing of church bells in Stoke Poges, a trip on the canal, and up Ivinghoe Beacon amongst many other venues.
Our own WI has a games night coming up, a trip to the theatre, a spring walk and pub lunch as well as meetings of our craft and storysack groups. Many other events are in the pipeline!
We were delighted to welcome back Denise Kelly, local author, who this time came to tell us about the spies and subversives in Buckinghamshire. It was a fascinating talk full of so much information, who would have thought our county would be so full of spies!
