Our first meet­ing of the WI’s Cen­te­nary Year started with wel­com­ing two new mem­bers, and we hope there will be many more in this ex­cit­ing year for WI.

Lots of events are planned, na­tion­ally and more lo­cally, in­clud­ing a cel­e­bra­tion lunch, the greet­ing of the cen­te­nary ba­ton, rather like a time cap­sule, which is tour­ing the whole coun­try and reaches Bucks in April with the ring­ing of church bells in Stoke Po­ges, a trip on the canal, and up Iv­inghoe Bea­con amongst many other venues.

Our own WI has a games night com­ing up, a trip to the the­atre, a spring walk and pub lunch as well as meet­ings of our craft and sto­ry­sack groups. Many other events are in the pipe­line!

We were de­lighted to wel­come back Denise Kelly, lo­cal au­thor, who this time came to tell us about the spies and sub­ver­sives in Buck­ing­hamshire. It was a fas­ci­nat­ing talk full of so much in­for­ma­tion, who would have thought our county would be so full of spies!
