Have your say on future priorities
Plan being drawn up to look at development needs of South Bucks
CALLS have been made for more to be done to protect South Bucks from future largescale developments.
South Bucks District Council wants to create a Local Plan, which once drawn up, will set out planning guidelines and development needs in the area until 2036.
The ideas and how to implement them will be discussed on Monday next week by the council, but people have spoken out in advance of the discussion to have their say on what they believe the key issues for the district are.
Chiltern District Council is also in the process of drawing up its own Local Plan which will serve the same purpose in the Chiltern area.
In today’s paper we ask people living in both areas to speak out about what they believe the priorities should be in the areas in which they live.
Their responses cover issues including doing more to protect South Bucks from a series of large scale developments such as HS2 and the Pinewood Studios expansion, and making sure that people in the area see a direct local benefit from major projects.
In Chiltern there are calls for more to be done to keep young people from moving out of the area by creating more jobs for them, and also to ensure that they are better integrated into the community.
Stewart Pomeroy, Colne Valley and green spaces team manager for Groundwork South, the organisation responsible for the upkeep of areas such as the Colne Valley Park, said: “It’s a really important time for South Bucks.
“Many people do not realise the impact that several large scale developments will have on this area.
“If they are going to go ahead, we have to make sure that they are controlled, and that this area benefits.”
