A BUCKS-BORN ac­tor is de­lighted to be pur­su­ing his dream ca­reer in Hol­ly­wood.

For­mer Che­sham Gram­mar School pupil James Dar­byshire, 40, who stud­ied his A-lev­els at Dr Chal­loner’s Gram­mar School, moved to Cal­i­for­nia six years ago af­ter he re-dis­cov­ered his pas­sion for the arts and de­cided to quit his job as a banker and pur­sue his dream of be­ing an ac­tor.

Since then, Mr Dar­byshire has starred on stage, in mu­sic videos, com­mer­cials and films in­clud­ing Yosemite along­side ac­tor James Franco. Mr Dar­byshire first met James Franco when he was star­ring in a play writ­ten by the ac­tor’s mother. James was mak­ing a tele­vi­sion doc­u­men­tary about the mak­ing of a play, which is com­ing out soon and fea­tures Mr Dar­byshire.

Mr Dar­byshire, who lived in Style­croft Road, Chal­font St Giles, and Long Walk in Lit­tle Chal­font, said that ex­pe­ri­ence en­cour­aged him to move to Hol­ly­wood, where he

Mr Dar­byshire has also started an in­ter­view se­ries and the first episode fea­tures his for­mer class­mate Mark Sanger, who won an Os­car last year for the edit­ing work he did on Grav­ity. The in­ter­view will be aired later this year.

Mr Dar­byshire, whose par­ents live in The Brow, Chal­font St Giles, said he has no re­grets mov­ing to LA.

He said: “It’s great to have the op­por­tu­nity to work with peo­ple at the top of the in­dus­try. I’ve found that there are no short­cuts and the peo­ple at the top have worked ex­tremely hard to get there.”
