Dreams of Hollywood
A BUCKS-BORN actor is delighted to be pursuing his dream career in Hollywood.
Former Chesham Grammar School pupil James Darbyshire, 40, who studied his A-levels at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, moved to California six years ago after he re-discovered his passion for the arts and decided to quit his job as a banker and pursue his dream of being an actor.
Since then, Mr Darbyshire has starred on stage, in music videos, commercials and films including Yosemite alongside actor James Franco. Mr Darbyshire first met James Franco when he was starring in a play written by the actor’s mother. James was making a television documentary about the making of a play, which is coming out soon and features Mr Darbyshire.
Mr Darbyshire, who lived in Stylecroft Road, Chalfont St Giles, and Long Walk in Little Chalfont, said that experience encouraged him to move to Hollywood, where he

Mr Darbyshire, whose parents live in The Brow, Chalfont St Giles, said he has no regrets moving to LA.
He said: “It’s great to have the opportunity to work with people at the top of the industry. I’ve found that there are no shortcuts and the people at the top have worked extremely hard to get there.”
