Au­thor booked in for school treat

Lau­ren St John, au­thor of the White Gi­raffe, Laura Mar­lin and One Dollar Horse se­ries went along to Malt­man’s Green School in Ger­rards Cross on Mon­day, Jan­uary 26.

Girls in Years 5 and 6 chat­ted to her about her child­hood grow­ing up on a farm and game re­serve in Zim­babwe and her work with the Born Free foun­da­tion, where she has res­cued dol­phins and leop­ards, re­turn­ing them to their nat­u­ral habi­tat.

She also showed them pho­to­graphs of her an­i­mals, in­clud­ing a gi­raffe and two warthogs.

Mandy Wirth, head of English at the school, said: “Lau­ren also gave the girls some very prac­ti­cal tips to de­velop CHAL­FONT ST PETER: Thieves broke into a shed and stole a bike in The Queensway.

The crime took place be­tween 2pm and 5.30pm their story writ­ing and they left the cre­ative writ­ing work­shop thor­oughly en­thused and keen to try out their ideas.” on Sun­day, Jan­uary 25.
