Still bloom­ing great af­ter 75 years

A VIL­LAGE gar­den club is cel­e­brat­ing a mile­stone an­niver­sary this year and has marked the oc­ca­sion by re­fur­bish­ing its hut.

The Chal­font St Peter Gar­den Club has turned 75 this year, hav­ing started life in 1940.

One of the ways in which the club has cel­e­brated the an­niver­sary by al­lo­cat­ing funds to re­fur­bish its trad­ing hut in Gravel Hill.

Club pres­i­dent Alan Dav­i­son said: “We thought spend­ing money re­new­ing our popular trad­ing hut both cel­e­brates the ef­forts of past mem­bers and will di­rectly ben­e­fit cur­rent mem­bers.

“The present re­fur­bish­ment en­sures the fu­ture of this valu­able com­mu­nity as­set.”

The hut is used to sell gar­den­ing items to mem­bers on Sun­day morn­ings, and the club also holds gar­den­ing themed talks in the Church Hall in Church Lane, ev­ery third Wed­nes­day of the month from 8pm.

An­nual membership of can be paid at the hut or the club is £8.50 and at meet­ings. GER­RARDS CROSS: The vil­lage li­brary will hold a cof­fee morn­ing later this month.
