Break times get a lift from Sport England

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SCHOOL REPORT -

CHILDREN have been enjoying spending their break times outdoors on a school’s new playground.

Last year, Elmtree School, in Elm Tree Hill, Chesham, successfully applied for funding from the Sport England primary spaces National Lottery fund.

Elmtree School in Chesham has had playground improvement work carried out

The initiative was launched following the 2012 Olympic Games to inspire the next generation to develop an enthusiasm for PE and sport so that they can continue to develop healthy, active lifestyles throughout their lives.

The work on improving the playground has now been completed.

Headteacher Daphne Dru said: “Elmtree is one of only 601 primary schools in England to receive funding to improve its outdoor space and help the next generation develop a lifelong sporting habit. Well done Mrs Blackmore for completing the application. We have significantly improved the appearance and safety of the surfacing on both the patio and top playgrounds. There are also a number of new storage units for outdoor equipment and some exciting new activity panels.”
