Toy ap­peal works won­ders

A CHAR­ITY’s shops re­ceived £3,000 worth of pre-owned toys thanks to a cam­paign.

Barnardo’s stores in Che­sham, Ger­rards Cross, Great Mis­senden, Chal­font St Peter, Amer­sham and Ayles­bury re­ceived 95 bags to­talling nearly £3,000 worth of do­nated pre-owned chil­dren’s toys, thanks to Ar­gos’ Toy Ex­change.

Dur­ing the eight-week cam­paign, dona­tions across the UK rose by more than 55,000 bags, a to­tal of £663,996 worth of do­nated toys.

Barnardo’s direc­tor of re­tail and trad­ing, Ger­ard Cousins, said: “This is the third year of the part­ner­ship and we’re de­lighted that the Ar­gos Toy Ex­change has again proved such a suc­cess, par­tic­u­larly in such a chal­leng­ing eco­nomic cli­mate.

“The dona­tions we re­ceived ahead of the busy Christ­mas pe­riod gave a sub­stan­tial boost to our stock and pro­vided a real fes­tive bonus.
